When it comes down to being a business owner, it can be challenging, but also rewarding! Nothing like having something that you can call your own!
Will there be times when you have doubts and wonder why you are even doing all of this work? Sure, someone told me once that if you don’t want to quit every day then you aren’t trying.
So therein lies the question: If it is so hard to keep going how do you see past the challenges to get the rewards?
Proverbs 29:18 [TPT] reminds us that “without a clear prophetic vision, people quickly wander astray, but when you follow the revelation of the word, heaven’s bliss fills your soul.”
I believe that means you have to have something to focus on or you will just follow what the rest of the world is doing and in case you haven’t noticed, those regular Josie Moe’s aren’t doing much.
Have you ever walked through an unfamiliar room in the dark? What happens? Chances are pretty good that you will find every opportunity to jam your toes or step on things that hurt your feet. Even if you have shoes on, you might still get tripped up.
The same is true with life. If you don’t have a clear idea of where you are going–you don’t have a vision!
So what can a vision for your life do? It will give you a reason to keep going, because when those rough times come–and they will– you know why you keep trying!
“And patient endurance will refine our character, and proven character leads us back to hope.” [Romans 5:4 TPT]
I’ve heard people say, “oh, whatever you do, don’t ask God to grant you patience because it is in that moment everything and everyone will get on your last nerve.”
I believe your ability to be patient goes hand-in-hand with perseverance. Without patience, I know when things don’t work the way I want them to, I am going to wanna hit the door running, yelling NEXT!
However, with a steady heart, mind, and spirit you will be able to press on toward your goal–your vision!
“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” [2 Timothy 2:15 ESV]
I’ve found the best way to deal with anything life hands you is to remember to WHOM you are working for.
For example, I have a J.O.B., but I don’t work for my employer –I work for God. As long as I can keep that fact in front of me, it is so much easier to do my best.
The same thing is true with a business venture. That is why making sure it lines up with your values is so important. If it doesn’t it will be easy to come up with a reason to leave when the going gets tough.
Once again this brings us back to your Vision. Can you see now why having a vision is so important?
4. Use your knowledge and seek partnerships
“The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge, for the ears of the wise seek it out.” [Proverbs 18:15 NIV]
I believe life gives us an opportunity to learn new things but also gives us the opportunity to work with others too. Community is so important. That is why I love my Facebook Group. (Join Here!) We need each other!
“My soul rests quietly only when it looks to God; from Him comes my deliverance. He alone is my rock, my deliverance, and my high tower; nothing will shake me.” [Psalm 62:1-2 ISV]
I have to admit, this one is hard. I find that I am either all on or all off and I often find myself feeling guilty either way.
Yet the ability to rest is so important. What are you going to accomplish if you are tired, or have a short temper with those you love–especially YOURSELF?
6. Find Joy in everything
“Rejoice in the Lord always. Again I will say, rejoice!” [Philippians 4:4 NKJV]
There are so many references to finding joy, laughter, and happiness but I think Philippians 4:4 is my favorite. The key word is ALWAYS!
I’ve heard it said that laughing is a good cure for pretty much anything that ails you. It will diffuse stress, infuse some lightheartedness into life and get some perspective on it.
