When things are overwhelming, you feel stressed, and it doesn’t seem like God is answering your prayers, you might ask:
What is the point? 🤔
Why should I pray? 🤔
Why did this even happen in the first place? 🤔
I get it. I’ve been there.
Give me a minute and I just might find myself right back there…🧐
I admit I spend way too much time reading the news and looking at the CDC website that is tracking this invisible enemy. 😖😖
I’ve been reading a Bible study on silence and the importance of opening my mouth and saying the things God is calling me to say and doing the things He is calling me to do.
Tonight before work, I read Luke 18:1-6. For me, this is one of the least known parables. He talks about a widow who goes to a judge for help and he keeps coming up with reasons not to hear her petition. I think it helps to look at it how it would be if she went to a courtroom in our current judicial system without a lawyer. 💼
She has filed paperwork, but he has told his clerk that he won’t hear any cases unless the paperwork is perfect. Every day she comes to court and files her paperwork and every day she is turned away.
She doesn’t leave quietly; she pleads over the clerk telling her no to the judge. “Please help me.”
Finally, after watching this woman come over and over to his court and begging that he hear her case, he decides he will not only hear her case, he will help her. Now he isn’t doing this out of the goodness of his heart, he is doing it so he doesn’t have to see her anymore.
Wow, nice guy, right? 😒
The thing that makes God a better judge is that He loves us, He cares about us, and He will be there for us when we plead our case. 🙏
Even better Jesus stands with us as our advocate (lawyer) to the Father! 🎤
Now that right there is some good stuff! 💥
Here is the thing about praying to God. 🙏
We don’t understand His plan, we have no idea what the future holds, and we certainly don’t know what is best for us. He also can’t say yes to everyone’s prayers because the things I ask for will impact the things you ask for.
Did you watch the movie Bruce Almighty? In it, Bruce is given the opportunity to play god for a day. He decides to say yes to everyone’s prayers and messes it up—big time!
Our enemy is invisible, my friend, but its name isn’t Corona.
It is Satan.
Ephesians 6:10-12 (MSG) reminds us of this truth God is strong and He wants us strong. So we need to use God’s Truth to fight everything the enemy throws our way. We are in a life-or-death fight against Satan and all his demons. 💥
Satan wants to trick us, make us lose hope, faith, and our witness to others. He wants to convince us that we are alone and helpless. I want to assure you right now, that is NOT TRUE.
Deuteronomy 31:6 (NIV) assures us “be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.”
