Dare to Delight in The Lord

Do you recall when God called You? That first tug at your spirit when you knew He had a specific purpose for your life?

I do. 🤗

Sitting in my regular seat next to Momma in church, the visiting missionary spoke about touching the lives of God’s children. I look up from my Bible and he is looking directly at me. I stirred in my spot. Momma wrote a note on a sticky pad she kept in her Bible.

“You just got zotted.” She wrote. (I still have this note.) ⚡️

I remember thinking, “I don’t want to go to a third-world country.”

I started to run from God and my calling that day. 😱

Thirty years later, I understand God doesn’t work that way. 🎤

He craves to use me…And you too.

He also wants to give us the desires of our hearts. 🥰🥰

A great example is Moses. The first time we can see the desire of his heart is when he sees one of his people, a Hebrew, being abused. 🤯 His desire is to make it stop, but he murders an Egyptian 🤬 (Exodus 2:11-22).

This puts him on the run from the law, Pharaoh.😱

Moses messed up, and he knows it. Now in fear for his life, he runs to the desert and cares for his father-in-law’s sheep (Exodus 3:1). When you care for animals, they become children to you. Not to mention sheep get themselves in trouble.

(Momma used to say, “Sheep are dumb.”)

Jesus compares us to sheep. 🐑Picture? We can be pretty foolish. 😥

We need a good shepherd to guide us and restore us from our messes. In the story of the lost lamb, Jesus tells us the shepherd leaves the 99 to save the one who wandered away. 😍God used Moses and his life in the desert tending these sheep to teach him compassion and patience.

Been there done that, I have the battle scars to prove it. 🥴🙄

I venture you do too.

God waits forty years before He says, “Moses, I have a job for you.”

God tells Moses He will use him to set the Hebrews free, but all Moses has is excuses. He says, “people will not follow me, I am a nobody” (Exodus 3:12). God declares, “I will be with you and I will show you favor and prosperity” (Exodus 3:13-21). But that isn’t enough for Moses. So, God shows him signs and wonders he will do with the power of God (Exodus 4:1-8). Moses is getting desperate, he claims, “I can’t do it because I stutter” (Exodus 4:10). God is tired of hearing his excuses, and replies, “Take Aaron with you” (Exodus 4:14).

Does this resonate with you? It does with me.

I was so broken. I didn’t know if there was a way back to God. (But at least I hadn’t murdered anyone.)😁

Jesus rescued me, He carried me out of the darkness—through my divorce.

😍Over the past ten years, I’ve felt more comfort, peace, and forgiveness than I ever thought possible. The Lord has helped me to grow in Him and to understand He loves me despite my shortcomings. It is in my weakness He can use me.

Imagine, God, sending that young, haughty Moses to set the Hebrews free. Do you think he would have followed Him? I bet he’d answer, “Hey we should do things my way.”

God has a plan to use you, but unless You will serve Him, you will be of no value to the Kingdom. My question for you today is this: What is the call God has placed on your heart? ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜🖤

Yesterday I heard someone suggest your biggest pain is your ministry. 😮

I dare you to ask God to reveal to you the things He’s taught you. Ask God about the desire of your heart and I promise He will show you! 🥰

Three decades ago, He called me to reach out to His children and to encourage them. It wasn’t until recently I learned that His children are ageless; they are everywhere—they are you.

Uniquely yours,

Dianna
