Dare to Fight

What do we do when it feels like everything is coming down around our ears?

I know for me it is so easy to want to just run and hide. The beginning of this year started out so rough for me both financially, physically, and emotionally. I felt like I was going to have a nervous breakdown.

I knew I needed to get help, but when money is already stretched to the limits how could I justify spending more even if it was only a $40 co-pay.

It wasn’t until I finally reached the end of myself that I threw my hands up to God and said, “I just can’t take this anymore.”

At that moment, I could hear God whisper to my heart, “Why did you wait so long to give it to me?”

The next day I got a notice in the mail from my health insurance provider about a free counseling benefit. As I read over it, I had to laugh. I called the company and started the program right away. I was immediately connected with a Christian counselor. (I just love it when God shows up and shows off!)

Over the next eight weeks, I worked with two amazing women, a Christian life coach, and a Christian counselor. They helped me to clear away what the Bible calls strongholds.

Strongholds are the things that the enemy uses in our minds to make us think that all is lost.

A good example of this is the story of Goliath. The army of Israel saw the size of the giant, but

to David Goliath was already finished!

‘David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. Today I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds of the air and the beasts of the earth, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the Lord saves; for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will give all of you into our hands”’ (1 Sam. 17:45–47).

When I focused solely on the physical battle, my health, finances, and emotions, I couldn’t win. As soon as I turned my focus to God, He began to show me the doors that were already open to me.

Just as the Apostle Paul told Timothy, “For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline’ (2 Tim. 1:7), I am telling you. Stop letting the things in this life that you cannot control, control you!

There is only one truth you need today and always: The battle is the Lord’s!

Whatever you are going through He will make a way.

What strongholds is the enemy trying to use to shut you up in a world of loss and despair? How can relying on God’s promises and focusing on Him help you?

How can I pray for you today?

Uniquely Yours,
Dianna
